Aphorism 30

The automobile is symbolic of the human outward momentum — it was created to provide its passengers with more freedom, but has become bogged down in gridlock.  The automobile like the human outward momentum has become nothing more than a slow moving death trap.

  1. As you would no doubt point out, true freedom is ultimately a “human inward” thing that no external object or device can provide. The automobile was a delusional liberation that soon became an addiction. People still mistakenly associate it with “independence”–but observe the addicts hooking up intravenously at the pumps, and you know just how dependent they really are.
